Layla Khoo and Pete Bennison 

We moved to Kirkbymoorside in 2017 after falling in love with Ryedale, and jumped in feet first buying the old HSBC building.   

With a background in the arts and first hand knowledge of how difficult and important it is to find artistic working spaces, it didn’t take long to decide that this was the best possible use for the building, after completing the much needed renovations. And so Vault Studio Space was created.   

The studios are currently all occupied, but please get in touch with us if you would like to be placed on the waiting list. All artists have 24 hour access to the studios, communal areas and our extensive art library! 

We also offer a workshop / classroom space for artists wanting to host courses, offered at a very competitive day rate.  

Pete has a working background in construction, and is a practising artist specialising in metal casting. Layla is a practicing artist specialising in participatory installations, is a founding member of the annual Ryedale Open Studios event, and has just begun a practice based PhD. We take a hands on approach to managing the studios (we live upstairs!) and are looking to develop a  creative community environment to work within.
